About
If you’re a parent or guardian who used MySchoolBucks to fund your child’s school lunches in recent years, you may be owed money from a newly approved class action settlement. Heartland Payment Systems LLC has agreed to pay $18.25 million to resolve claims it improperly charged fees to users of the MySchoolBucks platform.
The lawsuit alleged that Heartland Payment Systems unlawfully charged “program fees” to parents and guardians when they uploaded money via credit or debit card for school lunch accounts using the MySchoolBucks website. According to the complaint, these fees were not legally permissible, causing users to overpay.
Although Heartland denies any wrongdoing, the company agreed to settle the case to avoid prolonged litigation.
