What happened
Aldrich Services LLP ("Aldrich"), a professional services firm based in Lake Oswego, Oregon, became aware of suspicious activity involving an employee email account. The firm secured the account and launched an investigation, which determined that an unauthorized individual had access to the email account from August 22 to August 23, 2026. Aldrich then reviewed the contents of the mailbox to identify the personal information it contained and the individuals it related to.
Aldrich completed its preliminary review on or around September 28, 2026 and began sending notification letters on October 1, 2026, including a notice filed with the California Attorney General. The notice states that names and other personal information were involved. Regulatory filings indicate that, for some Massachusetts residents, financial account information and Social Security numbers were also involved. Aldrich is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration through Experian IdentityWorks.
Email account intrusions can expose any document or message stored in a mailbox, including tax, financial, and identity records shared with a professional services firm. Whether Aldrich's email security practices met legal standards is among the issues being evaluated.
