What happened
On May 7, 2026, Alliance Environmental Group, LLC ("Alliance Environmental Group"), an environmental remediation and indoor air quality services company based in Azusa, California, detected suspicious activity on its computer network. The company took steps to secure its network and launched an investigation with the assistance of outside specialists. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor accessed or acquired certain files on the network between April 24, 2026 and May 7, 2026.
Alliance Environmental Group then conducted a review of the affected files, which concluded on August 17, 2026 and identified individuals whose personal information was present. Notice letters dated September 15, 2026 were sent to affected individuals and filed with the California Attorney General, roughly four months after the suspicious activity was discovered. The public notice states that the affected files contained each individual's name along with other personal information, but the sample letter does not list the specific data elements. Alliance Environmental Group is offering complimentary Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring and identity restoration services, with enrollment required by December 31, 2026.
Because the specific categories of data have not been publicly itemized, affected individuals should review their own letters carefully. Whether Alliance Environmental Group's pre-breach security practices met legal standards, and whether the multi-month notification delay caused additional harm to affected individuals, are among the issues being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for credit monitoring and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring
Enroll in the Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring offered in your letter by the December 31, 2026 deadline, using the activation code printed on your letter. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because the notice does not specify which data elements beyond your name were involved, check your individual letter for the categories listed and consider placing a fraud alert or security freeze with all three major credit bureaus as a precaution.
