Background

What happened in the ArtiFlex data breach

On or about August 23, 2026, ArtiFlex, a company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network. According to its notice letter, an investigation with third-party specialists determined that there was unauthorized access to certain systems between August 22, 2026 and August 23, 2026, and that certain files were accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized actor during that time.

After the investigation, the company reviewed the impacted files to determine what information they contained and to whom it related. Its filing with the New Hampshire Attorney General says ArtiFlex provided written notice on or about October 29, 2026. The notice letter filed with the New Hampshire Attorney General says files containing name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license or other government issued ID, passport and medical/health insurance information may have been accessed and/or acquired. The company's cover letter to New Hampshire lists name, Social Security number, and driver's license or other government issued ID. ArtiFlex reported 3,804 affected individuals to the Indiana Attorney General, including 3 Indiana residents, and told New Hampshire that one New Hampshire resident was notified.

The company is offering credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Experian IdentityWorks. Its New Hampshire filing describes the offer as one year, while the sample letter leaves the number of months blank. Notices went out about two months after the company became aware of the activity. Whether ArtiFlex's security practices met legal standards is among the issues being evaluated.
