Background

What happened in the BCD data breach

According to its notice, on or about May 26, 2026, BCD became aware of suspicious activity related to an enterprise user account. The company says its investigation, conducted with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity and data privacy specialists, determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to the account between May 22, 2026, and May 26, 2026, and copied certain files available therein. The letter states that BCD provides corporate travel booking services and was provided with information related to the recipient in the course of providing such services.

BCD says it undertook a review of the impacted data to determine its contents and identify the individuals involved. Its letter to the New Hampshire Attorney General, dated October 27, 2026, states that on or about October 26, 2026, the company began providing written notice, about five months after it became aware of the suspicious activity. The New Hampshire filing states that the information that could have been subject to unauthorized access includes name and passport. The sample letter posted with that filing lists name and leaves the remaining data elements as a placeholder. The company is offering 12 months of Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring and identity theft protection.

The New Hampshire filing also states that BCD notified federal law enforcement about the event. Whether the company's security practices for the enterprise user account met legal standards, and whether the time taken to notify individuals caused additional harm, are among the issues being evaluated.
