What happened
Cornerstone Staffing Solutions, Inc. ("Cornerstone Staffing Solutions") detected anomalous activity in its network environment on November 17, 2025. A forensic investigation conducted with the assistance of a third-party cybersecurity firm determined that between November 6 and November 21, 2025, an unauthorized actor may have accessed certain company systems. The company says it contained the threat, launched an internal investigation, and implemented additional security safeguards. The incident was reported to the California Attorney General, and the notice letter is available through that office's public breach notification database.
Cornerstone Staffing Solutions completed its review of the affected systems on August 7, 2026 and began mailing notification letters dated September 11, 2026, roughly ten months after the activity was first detected. The notice states that names and other personal data elements stored in the impacted environment could have been exposed, but it does not itemize every category involved. Because investigators could not confirm which specific files were accessed or removed, the company issued notices out of an abundance of caution. Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through HaystackID, and impacted individuals must enroll within 90 days of the notice date using an Equifax activation portal.
Staffing and workforce companies typically hold employment records for large numbers of current, former, and prospective workers, which can include Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and payroll or tax information. Whether the company's pre-breach security practices met legal standards, and whether the ten-month notification delay caused additional harm, are among the issues being evaluated.

Am I eligible to join a class action against Cornerstone Staffing Solutions? +
If you received a September 2026 breach notice from Cornerstone Staffing Solutions, or your information was stored on the impacted systems, you are likely eligible for a free case evaluation. Eligibility depends on your state of residence, the categories of your data that were involved, and any losses you have suffered. Dapeer Law will review your notice at no cost.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The notice states that names and other personal data elements stored in the impacted environment could have been accessible to the unauthorized actor. It does not itemize every category involved, and the company reported that investigators could not confirm exactly which files were accessed or removed. Because staffing companies commonly hold employment records, the information at issue may include some combination of names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and payroll or tax data. Your individual notice letter should specify the categories of your data that were involved.
Did Cornerstone Staffing Solutions offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is providing complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through HaystackID. Impacted individuals must enroll within 90 days of the notice date using the Equifax activation portal referenced in the letter. The notice does not specify how long the coverage lasts. Enrollment is separate from, and does not waive, your right to pursue a claim.
How many people were affected by the Cornerstone Staffing Solutions breach? +
The total number of affected individuals is not disclosed in the notice filed with the California Attorney General. This page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
The notice is available as a PDF through the California Attorney General's public data breach notification database, linked in Sources below. If you received a letter but no longer have it, Dapeer Law can assist you in obtaining a copy during your free consultation.
