What happened
On September 26, 2025, The LINE Los Angeles became aware of potential unauthorized access into its computer network. Upon discovery, the hotel engaged third-party specialists to investigate. That investigation determined that between September 25 and October 1, 2025, an unauthorized actor accessed the hotel's network, and that files containing guest information were accessible during the intrusion.
The hotel completed obtaining up-to-date address information for impacted individuals on July 2, 2026, began mailing notification letters on July 23, 2026, and reported the incident to the California Attorney General on July 24, 2026, roughly ten months after the breach was discovered. According to the notice, the affected files contained guests' first and last names; no additional data elements were identified. The hotel is offering 12 months of single-bureau credit monitoring through Cyberscout (TransUnion).
Whether the hotel's pre-breach security practices met legal standards, and whether the ten-month notification delay caused additional harm, are among the issues being evaluated.
