Background

What happened in the Nordace data breach

On September 17, 2026, Nordace, a Hong Kong online retailer of travel bags and accessories, identified and removed unauthorized code on the checkout page of its website, nordace.com. According to its notice to the New Hampshire Attorney General, the code (a Google Tag Manager container) was inserted between August 2 and August 4, 2026 and loaded a separately hosted script capable of collecting information customers entered at checkout and transmitting it to a domain controlled by an unauthorized third party. The filing states that the method by which the unauthorized party gained access remains under investigation.

Nordace says it has not confirmed that any customer's information was actually captured, and it is treating orders placed between August 2 and September 17, 2026 as potentially affected. The New Hampshire filing lists the information that could have been captured as name, billing and/or delivery address, email address, telephone number, payment-card number, card expiration date and card security code (CVV/CVC). The Vermont Attorney General's Security Breach Notices table lists Financial Account Codes and Credit and Debit Account Info for this report. The letter states that the checkout page does not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license or other government identification numbers, dates of birth, or medical or health insurance information, and that Nordace does not store payment-card numbers on its systems.

Nordace sent an initial, precautionary email notification on September 23 and 24, 2026 to customers who ordered between August 4 and September 17, 2026, and told the New Hampshire Attorney General it anticipated sending a supplemental notice to New Hampshire residents on or about October 24, 2026. The notice does not offer credit monitoring. Whether Nordace's website security practices met legal standards is among the issues being evaluated.
