What happened
According to the notice VCA Animal Hospitals filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General, an unauthorized actor accessed the company's systems on June 19, 2026. VCA states its investigation determined that limited personal information belonging to affected individuals was involved in the incident.
VCA began mailing notice letters on July 8, 2026 and reported the incident to the Massachusetts Attorney General on July 14, 2026. The company is offering 12 months of complimentary single-bureau credit monitoring, credit report, and credit score services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, with an enrollment deadline of January 12, 2027. The notice states that the personal information involved includes name and bank account details. VCA has said it is unaware of any misuse of the information as of its latest update.
Because the exposed data reportedly includes bank account details, affected individuals may face an elevated risk of financial fraud, including unauthorized transactions and account takeover.
