What happened
Cornick, Garber & Sandler, LLP ("CGS"), an outside accounting firm that serves Voxx International Corporation, reported that an unauthorized party gained access to parts of its computer network between February 14 and March 26, 2025. A forensic investigation conducted with outside cybersecurity specialists determined that certain files containing personal information were accessible during the intrusion.
CGS completed an extensive manual document review on March 12, 2026, confirmed current addresses for affected individuals on April 14, 2026, and began mailing written notices on or around May 14, 2026, more than a year after the breach window closed. The notice filed with the Maine Attorney General identifies full name as the data element involved and does not itemize additional categories. CGS is providing complimentary Kroll identity monitoring, credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services to those affected.
Whether CGS's pre-breach security practices met legal standards, whether the lengthy notification timeline caused additional harm to Voxx-affiliated individuals, and whether any data elements beyond full name were involved for some recipients, are among the issues being evaluated.

How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The notice filed with the Maine Attorney General identifies full name as the data element involved and does not itemize additional categories. Because CGS is an outside accounting firm that handles financial and employment-related information for client companies including Voxx International Corporation, additional data elements may have been involved for some individuals. Your individual notice letter should specify the categories of your data that were affected.
Did Voxx International offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. CGS is providing complimentary Kroll identity monitoring, credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services to affected individuals. The duration of these services is not stated in the publicly available regulator notice, please refer to the enrollment instructions and deadline printed in your individual letter. Enrollment is separate from, and does not waive, your right to pursue a claim.
How many people were affected by the Voxx International breach? +
The total number of affected individuals has not been publicly disclosed in the Maine Attorney General filing. This page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
