What happened
On July 1, 2026, Werth Wealth Management, LLC ("Werth Wealth Management" or "WWM"), a Kansas-based financial advisory firm, detected suspicious activity within its computer network. A forensic investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed certain WWM systems containing files with client personal information. The firm says it worked with cybersecurity experts to terminate the unauthorized access and to further strengthen the security of its systems.
Werth Wealth Management filed notice with the Massachusetts Attorney General and mailed written notification letters on July 29, 2026, approximately 28 days after the activity was discovered. According to the notice, the affected files may have contained clients' names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, other government-issued identification numbers, Raymond James account numbers, and financial account information. The Massachusetts filing lists one Massachusetts resident as affected. The total number of individuals notified nationwide has not been publicly disclosed. Affected individuals are being offered a complimentary two-year membership in Experian IdentityWorks, which monitors files at all three credit bureaus.
Werth Wealth Management and Raymond James state that no client accounts held at Raymond James were accessed and that no funds were compromised, and that identity-theft alerts have been placed on affected Raymond James accounts. Because the data reported as involved includes Social Security numbers, passport numbers, and financial account details, the exposure carries a heightened risk of identity theft, tax fraud, and account takeover attempts that can persist for years. Whether the firm's pre-breach data security practices met applicable legal standards, and whether the categories of information it retained were reasonably safeguarded, are among the issues being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the activation code for the Experian IdentityWorks membership and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free 24-month Experian IdentityWorks membership
Enroll in the complimentary two-year Experian IdentityWorks membership offered in your letter before the activation deadline printed on it. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because Raymond James account numbers were reported as involved, also review your investment and brokerage statements for transfers or address changes you did not authorize.
