What happened
AcademyHealth, a Washington, D.C. based professional organization focused on health services research and health policy, filed a notice with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and mailed letters to affected individuals dated July 27, 2026, disclosing a data security event involving certain of its systems. The notice letter states that, due to the requirements of Massachusetts law, the organization was unable to provide further detail in the letter about the nature of the event.
The breach report filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office identifies the categories of personal information involved as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and financial account information, and reports the incident as affecting three Massachusetts residents. AcademyHealth is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary single-bureau credit monitoring, credit reports, and credit scores, plus fraud assistance services, through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. Recipients must enroll within 90 days of the date of their letter using the activation code printed in the notice.

Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because financial account information was reported as involved, also review bank and card statements line by line and ask your institutions about adding verbal passwords or transaction alerts.
