What happened
On November 12, 2025, Advanced Power Services (NA) LLC detected suspicious activity within a portion of its computer network, according to the notice the company filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General under the Commonwealth's security breach statute (MGL c. 93H). The company engaged third-party cybersecurity specialists to investigate. That investigation determined that an unauthorized party accessed the network between August 2025 and November 2025 and obtained files containing sensitive personal information.
The notice filed on August 17, 2026 reports that the compromised files contained Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and financial account information, and that 13 Massachusetts residents were affected. The filing does not identify a complimentary credit monitoring or identity protection offer for notice recipients. It also leaves roughly nine months between the November 2025 discovery date and the August 2026 notice, a gap our investigation is examining alongside the security measures that were in place before the intrusion.
Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and financial account information are among the most sensitive categories of personal data, and the combination is enough to support new account fraud, tax fraud, and unauthorized withdrawals or transfers. Because the unauthorized party is reported to have taken files rather than simply viewed them, notice recipients should assume the information is in circulation and monitor accounts and credit reports closely.
