What happened
According to Advantage Home Health Care ("AHHC"), an unauthorized third party gained access to one of the company's computer servers between June 9 and June 26, 2026. AHHC states that it identified suspicious activity on June 16, 2026, and that its investigation later confirmed, on June 26, 2026, that the intruder had removed certain documents containing personal information from the server. The company reports that it isolated and contained the server involved, engaged outside cybersecurity and digital forensics specialists, and notified U.S. federal law enforcement.
AHHC filed a breach report with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and mailed notice letters dated August 25, 2026, roughly two months after the suspicious activity was first identified. The filing with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office reports one Massachusetts resident as notified, and no additional state filings were listed at the time of publication. AHHC identifies the information that may have been acquired as first and last name, date of birth, Social Security number, address and phone number, employment-related information, health insurance and plan enrollment details, claims information, healthcare provider information, and health benefit details. The company is offering 24 months of complimentary single-bureau credit monitoring, cyber monitoring, and identity restoration services through Cyberscout.
The reported combination of a Social Security number, a date of birth, and health plan and claims information is unusually broad, because it supports both financial identity theft and medical identity theft, in which a person's insurance coverage is used to obtain treatment or prescriptions. AHHC's disclosure also indicates that documents were actually removed from the server rather than merely accessed. How the intruder gained access, how many people were affected across all states, whether the removed data has appeared on any leak site, and whether the roughly two month gap between discovery and notification complied with applicable state notification deadlines are among the questions being evaluated.

Enroll in the free 24-month credit and cyber monitoring
Enroll in the Cyberscout single-bureau credit monitoring, cyber monitoring, and identity restoration services offered in your letter before the deadline stated in the notice, using the activation code provided. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because health insurance, plan enrollment, and claims information were reported as involved, also review every Explanation of Benefits statement from your insurer for treatment, providers, or prescriptions you did not receive, and report anything unfamiliar to your plan right away.
