What happened
According to the sample notice filed with the California Attorney General, Indico Data Solutions detected unauthorized access to several of its online repositories on May 7, 2026. The company states that it initiated its incident response protocol, secured its environment, and engaged external cybersecurity specialists to determine the nature and scope of the activity. A further analysis of the affected documents concluded on August 3, 2026 and confirmed that personal information was present in the compromised material. Sample notices were also filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General.
Indico Data Solutions began mailing notice letters on August 27, 2026, roughly three and a half months after the intrusion was discovered and more than three weeks after the document review was completed. Regulatory filings report a total of 1,040 individuals affected across Texas, California, and Massachusetts. The categories of information reported vary by state. For Texas residents, the notice lists name, address, date of birth, medical information, and health insurance information. For California residents, it lists name, Social Security number, account number, and the name of the financial institution. For Massachusetts residents, it lists driver's license number, financial account information, medical information, and Social Security number. The company states that it has rotated access credentials, tightened repository access controls, and implemented additional monitoring tools, and it is offering 24 months of complimentary single-bureau credit monitoring, credit reports, and credit scores through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, along with proactive fraud assistance services.
The combination of Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account details, and medical and health insurance information is among the most damaging mixes of data that can be exposed in a single incident. Social Security and driver's license numbers cannot be reissued easily and support long-term identity theft, synthetic identity fraud, and fraudulent account openings, while medical and insurance information can be used for medical identity theft and fraudulent billing. Dapeer Law is evaluating whether the access controls and monitoring in place on Indico Data Solutions' online repositories were reasonable for a vendor holding this category of data, and whether the gap between the May 7 discovery and the August 27 mailing caused additional harm to notice recipients.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter identifies which categories of your information were involved and contains the enrollment code for the Cyberscout monitoring services, and it is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free 24-month Cyberscout monitoring
Enroll in the Cyberscout credit monitoring, credit report, and credit score services offered in your letter before the activation deadline printed on it. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and financial account information were involved for some recipients, consider a security freeze rather than a fraud alert alone, and review bank, credit card, and insurance statements for at least the next 12 months.
