What happened
On October 6, 2025, Alliance Roofing Company, Inc. ("Alliance Roofing"), a regional commercial and residential roofing contractor headquartered at 630 Martin Avenue in Santa Clara, California, experienced a network disruption. The company immediately engaged third-party cybersecurity specialists, and the resulting investigation confirmed that an unknown actor had obtained unauthorized access to Alliance Roofing's systems.
A detailed review of the affected data concluded on February 23, 2026, identifying personal information that was potentially acquired by the unauthorized actor. Written consumer notices were mailed on April 24, 2026, roughly 6.5 months after the network disruption was discovered, and the incident was reported to the California Attorney General on May 7, 2026. The notice states that the data elements involved include each affected individual's name, Social Security number, and driver license number. Alliance Roofing is offering 12 months of complimentary Cyberscout (a TransUnion company) Single-Bureau Credit Monitoring, Credit Report, and Credit Score services.
Because Social Security numbers and driver license numbers can be used to open fraudulent credit accounts, file false tax returns, and commit other forms of identity theft, the categories of data reportedly involved in this incident raise heightened concerns. Whether Alliance Roofing's pre-breach security practices met legal standards, and whether the multi-month notification delay caused additional harm to affected individuals, are among the issues being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for credit monitoring and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free 12-month Cyberscout credit monitoring
Enroll in the Cyberscout (TransUnion) Single-Bureau Credit Monitoring, Credit Report, and Credit Score services offered in your letter within 90 days of the date printed on the notification letter. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because Social Security numbers and driver license numbers were reportedly involved, you should also place a fraud alert or security freeze on your credit file with all three major bureaus, watch for unfamiliar tax filings or unemployment claims under your Social Security number, and consider notifying your state's department of motor vehicles about the potential misuse of your driver license number.
