What happened
On May 12, 2026, Archwest Funding, LLC and Archwest Lending, LLC (collectively, "Archwest"), a real estate finance company headquartered in Irvine, California, identified unauthorized access to an employee email account. According to the company, it secured the account, terminated the unauthorized access, and launched an investigation. That investigation determined that an unauthorized third party had gained access on January 23, 2026 through a deceptive message, meaning the intruder may have had access to the account for roughly four months before the activity was discovered.
Archwest states that it completed a review of the affected emails and attachments and began mailing notification letters on June 25, 2026. The company reported the incident to the Massachusetts Attorney General on July 1, 2026, indicating that 6 Massachusetts residents were affected. The letters state that the information involved may have included Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and financial account information. Archwest is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary identity protection through IDX, which includes credit and CyberScan monitoring, up to $1,000,000 in identity theft reimbursement insurance, and fully managed identity recovery services.
Because the exposed categories reportedly include Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and financial account details, affected individuals may face an elevated risk of identity theft and financial fraud. Whether Archwest maintained reasonable safeguards to protect this information, how the account was compromised, and why nearly four months passed before the intrusion was detected are among the questions being evaluated.
