What happened
According to a notice filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General as filing No. 2026-1478, Christina Development Corporation experienced a disruption to its computer network on or about September 20, 2025. The company says it acted to secure the environment and retained third-party cybersecurity specialists and outside legal counsel to investigate what had happened. On March 4, 2026, that investigation determined that certain files had been acquired from the network without authorization.
Christina Development then reviewed the affected files to identify whose information was involved, and states that the review was completed on June 29, 2026. Notification letters began going out on August 31, 2026. The sample letter filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General reports that the files contained each person's first and last name together with one additional category of information, which appears in the public filing only as an unfilled merge field labeled [Extra3]. The company is offering complimentary Identity Restoration and protection services through Experian IdentityWorks, with enrollment open through October 31, 2026.
Roughly eleven months passed between the September 2025 network disruption and the August 2026 notice letters, and close to six months passed between the March 4, 2026 determination that files had been taken and the date the letters were mailed. Several state data breach statutes require notice without unreasonable delay, so the length of that gap is one of the issues this investigation is evaluating, along with whether the security measures in place at the time were reasonable and whether the public notice adequately describes what was exposed.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the activation code for the identity protection services and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit. It is also the only document that identifies the second category of information involved in your individual case, which the public filing does not disclose.
Enroll in the free Experian IdentityWorks services
Enroll in the complimentary Experian IdentityWorks Identity Restoration and protection services offered in your letter. The notice sets an enrollment deadline of October 31, 2026 and requires the activation code printed on your letter. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because the public notice does not fully describe the second category of information involved, review your credit reports for accounts you did not open, and keep a written record of any suspicious activity, the date you noticed it, and any time or money you spent resolving it.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from Christina Development. What should I do? +
Keep your breach letter, activate the free Experian IdentityWorks Identity Restoration and protection services before the October 31, 2026 deadline using the code printed on the letter, and consider placing a fraud alert or a security freeze with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Review bank, credit card, and other account statements for activity you do not recognize, and request your free credit reports at annualcreditreport.com or 1-877-322-8228. Because the public filing does not identify the second category of information involved, your letter is the best record of what was exposed in your case, so keep it and consider having a data breach attorney review it.
Am I eligible to join a class action against Christina Development? +
Individuals who received the August 31, 2026 Christina Development notice letter are the most likely to qualify for a free case review. Factors that can affect a potential claim include your state of residence, the categories of data actually involved in your letter, and whether you have documented any unreimbursed fraud, out-of-pocket costs, or time spent responding to the incident.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The sample notice filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General states that the affected files contained each person's first and last name plus one additional category of information. That second category appears in the public filing only as an unfilled merge field labeled [Extra3], so it is not publicly known. The filing does not report Social Security numbers or financial account numbers. Check your individual letter, which should name the specific information involved for you.
Did Christina Development offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Christina Development is offering complimentary Identity Restoration and protection services through Experian IdentityWorks. The letter sets an enrollment deadline of October 31, 2026 and includes an activation code you will need. The length of the coverage term is left blank in the sample letter filed with the state, so check your own letter for the term. Enrolling does not waive your right to pursue a legal claim.
How many people were affected by the Christina Development breach? +
The Massachusetts Attorney General filing lists eight affected Massachusetts residents, and no other states were reported in that filing. A nationwide total has not been publicly stated. This page will be updated if a larger figure is reported to another regulator.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
