What happened
LGBTQ Center OC, formally Gay & Lesbian Community Services Center of Orange County, Inc., reported that an unauthorized party may have accessed its computer network between December 25 and December 26, 2025. The organization discovered the suspicious activity on December 26, 2025, secured its systems, and engaged outside cybersecurity professionals to conduct a forensic investigation and a review of the data potentially involved.
On or about May 6, 2026, the review determined that files containing personal information were involved in the incident. The Center reported the matter to the California Attorney General on June 5, 2026, and began notifying affected individuals. Notice recipients are being offered complimentary identity-protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, with a 90-day enrollment window. The public notice does not itemize the specific data elements involved or state the total number of people affected, although a parallel state filing indicates that 481 Rhode Island residents were among those impacted. Roughly five months passed between discovery and notification.
Because LGBTQ Center OC provides health and community services, the notice includes guidance on protecting medical information, which suggests that health-related or other sensitive personal data may be among the categories at issue. Information of this kind can carry heightened privacy concerns for affected individuals. Dapeer Law is evaluating whether the categories of data involved and the time taken to notify support claims under California and other state data-breach laws.
