What happened
According to the notice filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General, Medical Express PSI discovered on June 17, 2026 that an unauthorized individual had gained access to several employee email accounts. The company states that it disabled the unauthorized access immediately and engaged an outside cybersecurity firm to investigate. The investigation determined that the unauthorized access began on June 16, 2026 and that the unauthorized individual took steps to conceal the activity.
Medical Express PSI conducted a message-by-message review of the affected accounts to identify what information was present. The company reported the incident to Texas regulators on July 28, 2026 and notified the Massachusetts Attorney General and affected individuals on August 14, 2026. Regulatory filings account for 894 individuals in total, 870 Texas residents and 24 Massachusetts residents. For Texas residents, the reported categories include name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, and medical information. The Massachusetts filing lists names together with additional personal data identified in the individual letters. Medical Express PSI is offering complimentary IDX services, including credit and CyberScan monitoring, a $1,000,000 insurance reimbursement policy, and fully managed identity theft recovery support, with an enrollment deadline of November 14, 2026.
Because Medical Express PSI distributes medical equipment and supplies and held medical information alongside Social Security numbers, the incident raises questions under federal health privacy standards as well as state breach notification laws. Whether the company's email security controls and multi-factor authentication practices met applicable legal standards before the intrusion, and whether the combination of Social Security numbers with medical information creates heightened fraud exposure for those notified, are among the issues being evaluated.

Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because medical information was reported as involved, also review your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements and provider bills for equipment, supplies, or services you did not receive, and report anything unfamiliar to your provider and your insurer.
