What happened
My Doctor, LLC ("My Doctor"), a Cincinnati, Ohio internal medicine practice, learned on December 18, 2025 that an unauthorized party had accessed part of the cloud infrastructure that its third-party technology vendor, Aesto, maintained on its behalf. Outside cybersecurity specialists were retained to investigate. The forensic review determined that information stored in Aesto's Amazon Web Services environment may have been accessed between December 2 and December 18, 2025.
My Doctor states that its investigation confirmed on May 26, 2026 that protected health information may have been involved, and that written notices were mailed to affected patients on August 7, 2026. The notice filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General on August 10, 2026 reports that 5 Massachusetts residents were affected and lists full name, Social Security number, and certain protected health information among the data involved. The practice is offering a complimentary Experian IdentityWorks membership, and reports that it has no evidence of misuse. Roughly eight months passed between discovery of the incident and notification of affected patients, a delay that Dapeer Law is evaluating.
Because My Doctor is a healthcare provider, patient information held by the practice may be subject to protections under federal and state health-privacy laws. The combination of a Social Security number with health information can raise the risk of both financial and medical identity theft. The exact categories of data involved for any individual are described in that person's own notice letter.
