What happened
NSE Insurance Agencies ("NSE") reported that it discovered suspicious activity in its network on November 28, 2025. With the help of outside cybersecurity specialists, the company determined that an unauthorized party accessed its environment between November 6 and November 29, 2025, and that certain files containing personal information may have been accessed or acquired during that period.
NSE completed its review of the affected files on August 24, 2026, and notice of the incident was filed with the California Attorney General on September 24, 2026, roughly ten months after the activity was first discovered. The publicly posted notice identifies full name as an affected data element, while other data elements appear to be redacted from the public copy. The company is offering a complimentary membership in Equifax Credit Watch Gold.
Insurance agencies routinely collect detailed personal and policy information from their clients. Which categories of data were in the affected files, how many people were affected, and whether NSE maintained reasonable data security practices are among the questions being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for credit monitoring and lists the specific categories of your information that were involved. It is also important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free Equifax credit monitoring
Enroll in the Equifax Credit Watch Gold monitoring offered in your letter before the enrollment deadline stated in the letter. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from NSE Insurance Agencies. What should I do? +
Keep the letter, enroll in the free Equifax Credit Watch Gold monitoring before the deadline in your letter, review your credit reports and insurance and financial account statements for unfamiliar activity, consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze with the major credit bureaus, and contact a data breach attorney for a free consultation. Accepting credit monitoring does not waive your right to sue.
Am I eligible to join a class action against NSE Insurance Agencies? +
If you received a breach notice from NSE Insurance Agencies, you may be eligible for a free case evaluation. Eligibility depends on your state of residence, the categories of your data that were exposed, and any losses you have suffered. Dapeer Law will review your notice at no cost.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The publicly posted notice identifies full name as an affected data element, and additional data elements appear to be redacted from the public copy. Because insurance agencies often hold more sensitive client information, your individual letter is the best source for which categories of your data were involved.
Did NSE Insurance Agencies offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. NSE Insurance Agencies is offering a complimentary membership in Equifax Credit Watch Gold. Enroll before the deadline printed on your letter. Enrollment is separate from, and does not waive, your right to pursue a claim.
How many people were affected by the NSE Insurance Agencies breach? +
NSE Insurance Agencies has not publicly disclosed the total number of individuals affected. This page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
A copy of the notice is available through the California Attorney General's data breach notification database (linked in Sources below). If you received a letter but no longer have it, Dapeer Law can assist you in obtaining a copy during your free consultation.
