What happened
PAMCAH-UA Local 675 Health and Welfare Fund, a Honolulu-based benefit fund serving members of United Association Local 675, reported that an unauthorized party gained access to certain employee email accounts. The Fund's investigation determined that the unauthorized access occurred between September 23, 2025 and October 9, 2025, and that the intruder may have acquired documents containing personal information stored in those accounts.
The Fund filed notice with the Massachusetts Attorney General on August 3, 2026, roughly ten months after the unauthorized access ended, and reported that five individuals, all Massachusetts residents, were affected. The sample notice letter states that the information varied by individual but may have included name, date of birth and Social Security number. The regulatory filing also identifies driver's license number, financial account information and medical information among the data elements involved. The Fund says it has no evidence that the information has been used for identity theft or fraud, and is offering affected individuals a complimentary two-year membership in Experian IdentityWorks Credit 3B.
Because the Fund administers health and welfare benefits, the compromised mailboxes may have contained claims correspondence, enrollment records and other documents combining medical details with Social Security numbers. That combination carries a long-term risk of medical identity theft and benefits fraud, which credit monitoring alone does not fully address. Whether the Fund's email security controls were reasonable, and whether the roughly ten-month gap before notification caused additional harm, are among the issues being evaluated.
