What happened
According to a notice filed with the California Attorney General, Paylogix experienced a disruption to its network in November 2025. The company says it moved to contain the disruption, secured its systems, reported the event to law enforcement, and engaged forensic specialists to determine what happened. That investigation found that certain files may have been viewed or taken from the Paylogix network between November 13, 2025 and November 18, 2025.
Paylogix then reviewed the affected files to match the data to the client companies and individuals involved, a process it says it completed on or around July 20, 2026, when it notified the relevant customers. The company began mailing notification letters to affected individuals on August 14, 2026, roughly nine months after the incident. The public filing states that the relevant files contained the recipient's personal information but does not list the specific data elements, which are identified in each individual letter. Paylogix is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. The total number of people affected has not been publicly disclosed.
Because Paylogix administers premium billing and benefits enrollment for employers and insurance carriers, the files it holds can include the kinds of identifiers and benefits details that support identity theft, benefits fraud, and fraudulent insurance or medical claims. Notice recipients should review their individual letter to see which categories of information were involved in their case, and should watch benefits and insurance statements as well as bank and credit card accounts.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter lists the categories of information involved in your case, contains the enrollment code for credit monitoring, and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free 12-month credit monitoring
Enroll in the Cyberscout (TransUnion) credit monitoring and identity theft protection offered in your letter before the deadline printed on it. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because Paylogix handles benefits and premium billing, also review insurance statements, benefits enrollment confirmations, and any explanation of benefits notices for activity you do not recognize.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from Paylogix. What should I do? +
Keep your notice letter, since it lists the categories of information involved in your case and contains your enrollment code. Enroll in the 12 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Cyberscout before the deadline in the letter, then monitor your bank, credit card, and benefits statements along with your credit reports. If your letter indicates that a Social Security number was involved, consider placing a fraud alert or security freeze with the three credit bureaus. A data breach attorney can review the letter with you and explain your options.
Am I eligible to join a class action against Paylogix? +
Individuals who received a data breach notification letter from Paylogix are likely eligible to have their claims evaluated. Factors that affect a potential claim include your state of residence, the categories of data involved in your letter, and whether you experienced fraud, identity theft, or out-of-pocket losses. Eligibility to join a class action would be determined if and when a case is filed. A free consultation can help clarify where you stand.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The notice filed with the California Attorney General states that the affected files contained the recipient's personal information, but the public filing does not itemize the specific data elements. Those details are set out in the individual letters mailed to affected people, so you should check your own letter. Paylogix handles premium billing and benefits administration, so the files it maintains can include benefits and enrollment information in addition to basic identifiers.
Did Paylogix offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Paylogix is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. Follow the enrollment instructions and use the code in your letter before the deadline printed on it. Enrolling does not waive your right to pursue a legal claim.
How many people were affected by the Paylogix breach? +
Paylogix has not publicly disclosed the total number of affected individuals in its California Attorney General filing. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
The notice was filed with the California Attorney General and the sample letter is posted on that office's data breach notification portal, where it can be downloaded as a PDF. Dapeer Law can also help you obtain a copy during a free consultation.
