What happened
Livara Health Medical Group, dba SpineZone ("SpineZone"), a California spine and musculoskeletal care provider, notified patients that personal information stored by one of its vendors, Aesto, LLC, was accessed without authorization. According to the notice filed with the California Attorney General, unauthorized activity occurred on Aesto's cloud infrastructure between December 2 and December 18, 2025, and was detected and cut off on December 18, 2025. Aesto engaged outside cybersecurity specialists to conduct a forensic investigation.
Aesto states that on May 26, 2026 it confirmed that protected health information may have been accessed, and that it informed SpineZone of those findings on June 26, 2026. SpineZone began mailing written notices to affected California residents on August 25, 2026. The notice identifies full name as the information involved and states that no details regarding mental or physical condition, treatment, or medical history were included. SpineZone is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity-theft protection through TransUnion, with enrollment open for 90 days from the date of the letter. Roughly eight months passed between detection of the intrusion and notification of affected individuals, a delay that Dapeer Law is evaluating.
Because the information was held on behalf of a healthcare provider, patient data involved in this incident may be subject to protections under federal and state health-privacy laws. Incidents that originate with a third-party vendor also raise questions about the vendor-oversight and contracting practices of the provider that entrusted the data. The exact categories of data involved for any individual are described in that person's own notice letter.
What to do if you received a letter

Enroll in the TransUnion credit monitoring and identity-theft protection offered in your letter. The notice gives you 90 days from the date of the letter to activate the service. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from SpineZone. What should I do? +
Keep your notice letter, activate the 12 months of complimentary TransUnion credit monitoring using the code in your letter, and review your bank, credit-card, and medical statements for unfamiliar activity. You can also place a fraud alert or a security freeze on your credit files and request your free annual credit reports. Because a healthcare provider's records were involved, watch your insurance explanation-of-benefits statements for services you did not receive.
