What happened
Superb Shifts, Inc. ("Superb Shifts") reported to the Massachusetts and Texas Attorneys General that an email security event exposed personal information belonging to individuals connected to the company. The notice filed with Massachusetts states that the company is unable to provide further detail about the nature of the event because of the requirements of Massachusetts law, so the cause, the dates of unauthorized access, and the discovery date are not part of the public record. The company did confirm that personal information was accessible during the compromise.
Superb Shifts began mailing written notifications to affected individuals on or about July 31, 2026, the same date the filing was submitted to the Massachusetts Attorney General, and reported the incident to the Texas Attorney General on August 4, 2026. Regulatory filings identify 1,584 affected individuals in total, 1,577 in Texas and 7 in Massachusetts, and list the data involved as name, Social Security number, driver's license or other government-issued identification number, and mailing address. The company is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, with a 90-day enrollment window from the date of the letter.
Social Security numbers and government-issued identification numbers are among the most damaging categories of data to lose, because they cannot be changed the way a password or a payment card can. They are the core inputs for synthetic identity fraud, fraudulent tax filings, and new-account fraud, and the risk does not expire when a monitoring term ends. Because Superb Shifts operates as a staffing platform for hospitals and health care employers, the records at issue may include employment and onboarding files. Whether the company's email security practices met legal standards, and whether the limited public disclosure leaves affected individuals unable to assess their own risk, are among the issues being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for credit monitoring and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit. It also lists the specific categories of your information that were involved, which the public filings do not break down individual by individual.
Enroll in the free 24-month credit monitoring
Enroll in the Cyberscout (TransUnion) monitoring and identity restoration services offered in your letter within 90 days of the letter date, using the unique code printed in the notice. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because Social Security numbers and government-issued ID numbers were involved, also consider requesting an IRS Identity Protection PIN and watching for tax filings or state benefit claims made in your name.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from Superb Shifts. What should I do? +

Request your free credit reports at AnnualCreditReport.com or 1-877-322-8228, consider a one-year fraud alert or a no-cost credit freeze at Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, and monitor your accounts for unfamiliar activity. Am I eligible to join a class action against Superb Shifts? +
If you received a July 2026 breach notice from Superb Shifts, you are likely eligible for a free case evaluation. Eligibility generally depends on your state of residence, the categories of your data that were involved, and whether you can document any losses or time spent responding. Most of the reported population is in Texas, with a smaller group in Massachusetts. Dapeer Law will review your notice at no cost.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
State regulatory filings list the data involved as name, Social Security number, driver's license or other government-issued identification number such as a passport or state ID card, and mailing address. The sample notice filed in Massachusetts describes the incident only as an email event and states that further detail cannot be provided under Massachusetts law, so the categories that applied to any one person are not in the public record. Check your individual letter for the specific categories of your information that were involved.
Did Superb Shifts offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Superb Shifts is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. Eligible recipients must enroll within 90 days from the date of their letter using the unique code provided. Enrollment is separate from, and does not waive, your right to pursue a claim.
How many people were affected by the Superb Shifts breach? +
Regulatory disclosures list 1,584 affected individuals in total, 1,577 in Texas and 7 in Massachusetts. Filings in other states could raise that figure, and this page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
A sample of the notice was filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General and can be downloaded from the Mass.gov breach notification list, linked in Sources below and from the download button near the top of this page.
