What happened in the UAS data breach
According to a notice that counsel for UAS ("UAS") sent to the New Hampshire Attorney General, UAS became aware of unusual activity on its network on May 25, 2026 and immediately launched an investigation that included working with third-party specialists. The investigation determined there was unauthorized access to a portion of UAS's network between May 22, 2026 and May 25, 2026.
UAS then conducted a review of the relevant files and folders. It completed that review on September 1, 2026 and began to confirm address information for individuals, and it received National Change of Address results for the notice population on October 7, 2026. On October 14, 2026, UAS began mailing written notice to potentially affected individuals by U.S. mail, more than four months after it became aware of the unusual activity. UAS is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services, and says it changed network passwords and reviewed its policies and procedures.
The New Hampshire filing states that the information may include a name and one or more of the following: Social Security number, driver's license / state ID number, and financial account information. That means a name, a Social Security number, a driver's license number or state ID number, or financial account information may have been involved. The Massachusetts filing lists Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers and financial account information, and reports 38 Massachusetts residents. The New Hampshire filing identifies approximately one New Hampshire resident. Whether UAS's security practices met legal standards, and whether the time taken to notify individuals caused additional harm, are among the issues being evaluated.
