What happened
Travel Stars Inc. ("Travel Stars") is a travel management company founded in 1993 and headquartered at 5556 Franklin Pike, Suite 202, Nashville, Tennessee, and part of The Appointment Group (TAG). The company determined that an unauthorized party accessed certain systems containing customer data, and its internal investigation confirmed that specific payment card and driver's license details were at risk. The notice does not state when the unauthorized access began, when it was discovered, or what caused it, and the company reports no evidence that any information has been misused to date.
Notice letters were mailed to affected individuals on August 12, 2026, and the incident was reported to the Massachusetts Attorney General under event ID 2026-1341. The Massachusetts filing identifies the data elements involved as credit or debit card numbers and driver's license numbers and reports 1 affected Massachusetts resident. Recipients are being offered 24 months of complimentary TransUnion credit monitoring, credit alerts, and proactive fraud assistance, with enrollment at bfs.cyberscout.com/activate within 90 days of the letter date using the unique code printed in the notice.
Payment card numbers can be reissued, but a driver's license number cannot, and the two together are enough to support both fraudulent card activity and identity documents opened in someone else's name. Travel companies routinely retain card and identification data long after a trip is completed, which extends the window in which stored records remain at risk. Whether Travel Stars used reasonable security measures for this category of information, how long the data was retained, and whether the affected population is larger than the single Massachusetts resident currently reflected in the state filing are among the issues being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for credit monitoring and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free 24-month credit monitoring
Enroll in the TransUnion credit monitoring and fraud assistance offered in your letter, at bfs.cyberscout.com/activate, using the unique code provided. The notice gives you 90 days from the date of the letter to enroll. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because a payment card number was involved, review your card statements line by line and ask your bank about reissuing the card. Because a driver's license number was involved, contact your state motor vehicle agency about flagging your license record, and consider requesting an IRS Identity Protection PIN to guard against tax-related identity theft.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from Travel Stars. What should I do? +
Keep the letter, enroll in the free 24-month TransUnion credit monitoring at bfs.cyberscout.com/activate within the 90-day window printed in your notice, review your credit and debit card statements for charges you do not recognize, place a fraud alert or a free security freeze with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, pull your free report at AnnualCreditReport.com, and contact a data breach attorney for a free consultation. Because a driver's license number was involved, also ask your state motor vehicle agency what protections it offers. Accepting credit monitoring does not waive your right to sue.
Am I eligible to join a class action against Travel Stars? +
If you received an August 2026 breach notice from Travel Stars, you are likely eligible for a free case evaluation. Eligibility depends on your state of residence, the categories of your data that were exposed, and any losses you have suffered, including time spent resolving fraudulent charges. Even a single exposed record can support a claim where identity theft or out-of-pocket costs follow. Dapeer Law will review your notice at no cost.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The filing with the Massachusetts Attorney General identifies credit or debit card numbers and driver's license numbers as the data elements involved. The notice letter itself refers more generally to personal information and does not itemize categories, so your individual letter is the best source for what applies to you. Additional data elements may be identified as the review continues.
Did Travel Stars offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Travel Stars is offering 24 months of complimentary TransUnion credit monitoring, credit alerts, and proactive fraud assistance and remediation. Enrollment is at bfs.cyberscout.com/activate using the unique code in your letter, and the notice gives you 90 days from the date of the letter to activate it. Enrollment is separate from, and does not waive, your right to pursue a claim.
How many people were affected by the Travel Stars breach? +
The Massachusetts filing reports 1 affected Massachusetts resident. That figure reflects the Massachusetts filing only, and the sample notice letter does not state a nationwide total. If notices were filed with other state regulators, the overall number could be higher. This page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
