What happened in the CTG data breach
CTG is headquartered in Amherst, New York, according to its counsel's October 19, 2026 letter to the New Hampshire Attorney General. CTG says that on September 26, 2026, an unauthorized party accessed certain systems on the CTG network. CTG says it took steps to secure the identified systems, engaged cybersecurity professionals to investigate the scope of the incident, and reported the incident to law enforcement. The investigation determined that on September 26, 2026, an unauthorized actor copied certain files from the network.
CTG says it reviewed the files involved and, on October 2, 2026, determined that one or more of the files contained individuals' name, Social Security number, direct deposit account information, driver's license number or other government identification number, and health insurance member identification number or other health plan data. The notice letters are dated October 19, 2026, and CTG's counsel told the New Hampshire Attorney General that CTG sent notifications by U.S. First-Class mail to New Hampshire residents on that date. CTG is offering Single Bureau Credit Monitoring, Credit Report and Credit Score services through Cyberscout at no charge, and the New Hampshire version of the letter says the alerts run for twelve months from enrollment.
The state filings use their own labels. The Massachusetts filing lists name, Social Security number, driver's license numbers, financial account information, and health insurance member identification number or other health plan data. The New Hampshire filing lists name, Social Security number, direct deposit account information, driver's license number, other government identification number, health insurance member identification number and other health plan data. The Texas filing, posted by the Texas Attorney General on October 20, 2026, lists name of individual, Social Security Number Information, driver's license number, financial information and health insurance information. The Vermont Attorney General's table lists Social Security Numbers, Government ID Numbers, Financial Account Codes, Credit and Debit Account Info and Health Records.
CTG reported 11,962 affected individuals to the Texas Attorney General. The state filings also list 1,385 Texas residents, 77 Massachusetts residents, 48 Vermont residents and 26 New Hampshire residents. Whether CTG's pre-breach security practices met legal standards is among the issues being evaluated.
