La Perouse Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation
Received a July 2025 breach notice from La Perouse?
Dapeer Law, P.A. is investigating a potential class action against La Perouse LLC, a California-based health-related billing company, on behalf of individuals whose personal information may have been exposed when files were copied from a third-party billing platform in the July 2025 cyber incident.

What happened
On July 8, 2025, La Perouse LLC learned that an account within its third-party patient billing platform had been accessed by an unauthorized party. The company engaged outside cybersecurity specialists to investigate. The forensic review concluded that files were copied from the billing platform, though La Perouse states that its own network was not accessed.
La Perouse completed cataloging the affected individuals on April 17, 2026 and, on May 28, 2026, filed a consumer notice with the California Attorney General and began mailing letters. According to the notice, the copied files contained individuals' names and other personal information. The company did not list the specific additional data elements in its public filing. Affected individuals are receiving 12 months of free Single-Bureau credit monitoring, credit report, and credit score services through Cyberscout. The roughly eleven-month gap between discovery and notification is one of the issues being evaluated.
Because La Perouse provides health-related billing services, information shared for billing purposes may include sensitive details. Individuals who received a notice should treat any data they provided for billing as potentially at risk and take protective steps while the investigation continues.

Common questions
I received a data breach letter from La Perouse. What should I do? +
Keep your notice letter, enroll in the free Cyberscout (Single-Bureau) credit monitoring before the deadline, review your bank, credit card, and insurance statements for unfamiliar activity, and consider placing a fraud alert or security freeze. Because La Perouse handles health-related billing, also watch for medical or insurance fraud. You can contact a data breach attorney to review your options at no cost.
Am I eligible to join a class action against La Perouse? +
Individuals who received a La Perouse notice letter are the most likely to qualify. Eligibility typically depends on confirmation that your information was on the company's April 17, 2026 list of affected individuals, your state of residence, the categories of data exposed, and any documented losses. An attorney can confirm and advise on next steps.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
La Perouse's notice states the copied files contained individuals' names and other personal information. The company did not itemize each data field in its public filing. Because the files came from a patient billing platform, additional billing-related details may be involved. Check your individual letter for any specifics it lists.
Did La Perouse offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Affected individuals are offered 12 months of free Single-Bureau credit monitoring, credit report, and credit score services through Cyberscout, along with proactive fraud assistance. Enrolling does not waive your right to pursue a claim. Follow the activation instructions in your letter before the stated deadline.
How many people were affected by the La Perouse breach? +
La Perouse did not disclose the total number of affected individuals in its consumer notice filed with the California Attorney General. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
The consumer notice was filed with the California Attorney General and is available through the California Attorney General's data breach notification list. Dapeer Law can also help you obtain a copy during a free consultation.
