What happened
On March 4, 2026, Perrigo Company plc ("Perrigo") detected suspicious activity involving two employee email accounts. According to the company, the unauthorized access was contained and remediated the same day. Perrigo retained third-party forensic specialists to investigate the scope of the intrusion and notified law enforcement.
Perrigo completed its review of the affected data on April 23, 2026 and submitted a breach notification to the Maine Attorney General on May 18, 2026, roughly two and a half months after the incident was discovered. The Maine filing identifies first and last name as the data element involved and references “additional individual data elements” that are not itemized in the public notice. Perrigo is providing affected individuals with a complimentary 24-month membership in Privacy ID Solutions (Epiq), which includes three-bureau credit monitoring, quarterly credit reports, and identity-restoration assistance.
Whether Perrigo's pre-breach security controls over its employee email environment met legal standards, what additional categories of personal information were involved for specific recipients, and whether the notification timeline complied with applicable state breach-notice statutes, are among the issues being evaluated.

I received a data breach letter from Perrigo. What should I do? +
Keep the letter, enroll in the free 24-month Privacy ID Solutions (Epiq) three-bureau credit monitoring before the deadline printed in your notice, review your credit reports for any unfamiliar activity, consider placing a fraud alert or freeze on your credit file with the major bureaus, and contact a data breach attorney for a free consultation. Am I eligible to join a class action against Perrigo? +
If you received a May 2026 breach notice from Perrigo Company plc, you are likely eligible for a free case evaluation. Eligibility depends on your state of residence, the categories of your data that were exposed, and any losses you have suffered. Dapeer Law will review your notice at no cost.
How much money could I receive from a class action lawsuit? +
Data breach class action recoveries vary significantly. Settlements typically range from a few hundred dollars for basic out-of-pocket losses to several thousand dollars for documented identity theft, with class size, damages, and negotiation all affecting the final amount. No payout is guaranteed, and this investigation has not yet resulted in a settlement.
What personal information was exposed in the breach? +
The Maine Attorney General filing identifies first and last name as the data element confirmed exposed. Perrigo's notice letter also references “additional individual data elements” that were not itemized in the public filing. Because the compromise involved employee email accounts, the additional elements may have varied recipient by recipient depending on the contents of the affected mailboxes. Your individual notice letter should specify the categories of your data that were involved.
Did Perrigo offer free credit monitoring? +
Yes. Perrigo is providing a complimentary 24-month membership in Privacy ID Solutions (Epiq), which includes three-bureau credit monitoring, quarterly credit reports, and identity-restoration assistance. Enroll before the deadline printed in your letter. Enrollment is separate from, and does not waive, your right to pursue a claim.
How many people were affected by the Perrigo breach? +
The total number of affected individuals has not been publicly disclosed in the Maine Attorney General filing. This page will be updated as additional information becomes available.
Is there a deadline to take legal action? +
Yes. Statutes of limitations for data breach claims vary by state and legal theory, typically ranging from one to six years. Waiting can permanently bar your claim. Contact us as soon as possible for a free evaluation.
How do I get a copy of the official breach notice? +
The notice filed with the Maine Attorney General is available through the Maine AG's public data breach portal (linked in Sources below). If you received a letter but no longer have it, Dapeer Law can assist you in obtaining a copy during your free consultation.
