What happened
On February 24, 2026, TransGlobal Insurance Agency ("TransGlobal") discovered unauthorized activity on its computer network. The agency engaged its internal IT team and independent cybersecurity specialists to investigate and contain the incident, and reported the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The forensic investigation determined that the intrusion likely began on or around February 19, 2026 and that an unauthorized actor was able to access certain files containing personal information.
TransGlobal began mailing written notices to affected individuals on April 16, 2026, approximately two months after discovery, and reported the incident to the Idaho Attorney General on April 30, 2026. According to the regulatory filing, the affected files may have contained one or more of the following data elements (not every individual had every element exposed): name, address, Social Security number, driver's license number, and date of birth. TransGlobal is offering complimentary identity monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity-theft restoration services to impacted individuals.
Whether TransGlobal's pre-breach security practices met legal standards under applicable state and federal laws, and whether the combination of Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and dates of birth heightens the long-term identity-theft risk for affected individuals, are among the issues being evaluated.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for the identity-protection services and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit.
Enroll in the free identity-protection services
Enroll in the complimentary identity monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity-theft restoration services offered in your letter before the stated deadline. Accepting these benefits does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide.
Because Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers were among the data elements reportedly involved, consider placing a fraud alert or security freeze on your credit file with each of the three major credit bureaus and monitoring your state driver's license records for unauthorized activity.
