What happened
End-User Plaintiffs, consumers who bought everyday products containing fragrance ingredients, allege that the world's major fragrance manufacturers conspired to fix the prices of Fragrance Products, which include fragrance ingredients, formulas, and compounds used in consumer goods and fine fragrances, from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2023. The named defendants include IFF, Givaudan, DSM-Firmenich, Symrise, and related companies.
IFF denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not decided who is right. IFF agreed to pay $11,000,000 and to cooperate with plaintiffs in the case against the remaining defendants, which continues. The Court granted final approval of the IFF settlement on September 16, 2026. The money will be held and distributed at a future date, possibly together with any later settlements.

Where the money is going
IFF paid $11,000,000 into the settlement fund and agreed to cooperate in the ongoing case against the non-settling defendants. No money is being distributed to class members at this time. Class Counsel are not seeking attorneys' fees yet but plan to request up to one-third of the fund in the future. Notice and administration costs are paid from the fund. When distribution happens, it will be pro rata, so the amount per class member is not yet known.
Attorneys' fees and service awards have not yet been requested and remain subject to future court approval. The Court may award less than the amounts listed. Distribution will be pro rata based on valid claims and the number and type of products purchased, and the plan of distribution has not yet been announced.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
That is not known yet. Money from the IFF settlement will be distributed at a future date on a pro rata basis, based on the number of valid claims and the number and type of products each class member bought. No estimate has been published, and no amount is guaranteed.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
No claims process is open yet, and the documentation requirements have not been announced. Details will be posted on the settlement website when the claims process begins.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
You do not need a notice to be a class member. If you bought consumer products containing Fragrance Products in the U.S. between 2018 and 2023, not for resale, you can register for updates at FragranceConsumerSettlement.com or contact the Claims Administrator at 1-877-269-9876.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
Yes. The opt-out deadline was July 27, 2026, and the Court granted final approval on September 16, 2026. Class members who did not opt out release their claims against IFF arising from the conduct alleged in the case. Claims against the non-settling defendants are not released and the case against them continues.
When will payments be sent out?
No payments are being made at this time. Distribution will happen at a future date, possibly together with any later settlements in the case. Registering on the settlement website is the best way to hear when the claims process opens.
