State Attorneys General Generic Drug Price-Fixing Consumer Settlement
A coalition of 48 state and territorial attorneys general reached settlements totaling about $96.5 million with generic drug makers Heritage, Emcure, Apotex, Bausch, Lannett, and Glenmark over claims that they conspired to raise generic drug prices. Consumers who bought a listed generic drug in the U.S. between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019, and who now live in a participating state or territory, can file a claim by March 8, 2027 for a share of the consumer restitution funds, with no receipts required.

What happened
Beginning in 2016, a coalition of state attorneys general led by Connecticut sued dozens of generic drug manufacturers and executives in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, claiming they conspired to fix prices, rig bids, and divide markets for more than 100 generic drugs. Heritage (and its parent Emcure), Apotex, Bausch, Lannett, and Glenmark settled for a combined total of about $96.5 million and agreed to cooperate and make reforms. The Court preliminarily approved the states' plan to distribute consumer restitution in September 2026.
The settling manufacturers deny wrongdoing, and the claims against many other defendants are still being litigated. Funds from any future settlements will be held and distributed later or as the Court orders.

Where the money is going
The settling manufacturers agreed to pay a combined total of about $96.5 million. Only a portion of each settlement is designated for consumer restitution (the notice indicates roughly 45%), and the notice estimates about $25 to $30 million has been recovered for consumers so far. Per-person amounts depend on the number of claims and which option each claimant selects.
Figures are approximate and drawn from the Court-approved notice and state attorney general announcements. Distribution is subject to final approval at the September 8, 2027 hearing. Alabama, Arkansas, Hawaii, and Texas residents receive a fixed amount funded only by the Apotex settlement.
Common questions

No. Receipts are not required to file, but the Claims Administrator may request documentation if you choose Option 2. Get more information from the settlement website directly at AGGenericDrugs.com.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
