Who Can File a Patriots App Claim?

To qualify for a payment, you must meet all of the following criteria:

• You lived in the U.S. during the class period.

• You used the New England Patriots mobile app between Feb. 1, 2022 – May 30, 2025.

• You had location services enabled during your app use.

• You requested or watched prerecorded video content, such as on-demand replays, on the app.

You do not need to have received a notice to file a claim. However, if you did receive a unique ID and PIN via the app or push notification, use those when submitting your claim.

If you used the New England Patriots mobile app with location services enabled and watched a prerecorded video between February 1, 2022, and May 30, 2025, you may be eligible for a cash payment from a $2.16 million class action settlement.

The lawsuit claimed the Patriots app shared users’ personal data — including geolocation and video viewing history — with third parties without consent, allegedly violating the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). The Patriots deny any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the case to avoid further litigation.

In addition to financial compensation, the team has agreed to suspend the transmission of geolocation data through the app unless future laws allow it or proper user consent is obtained.

How to File a Claim

Filing is easy and can be done in a few steps:

1. Visit the official settlement website

2. Complete the online claim form or download the PDF version and mail it to:

3. If you received a notice through the app, enter your Unique ID and PIN on the claim form.

4. If you didn’t get a notice, you can still file by certifying that you meet the eligibility criteria.

How Much Can You Receive?

Payouts will be distributed on a pro rata basis, meaning:

• The settlement fund will be divided equally among all approved claimants

• The more valid claims submitted, the smaller the individual payout

• The total fund is $2.16 million, but that amount will be reduced by:

  • Attorneys’ fees (up to $720,000)

  • Administrative costs

  • A service award (up to $5,000 for the lead plaintiff)

While exact payment amounts aren't yet known, all eligible claimants will receive the same payment, regardless of how many videos they watched.
