You are a Class Member if ALL of the following apply:
- You paid any amount of money for retail purchases of Chantix in the United States or its territories between September 29, 2015 and September 17, 2021.
- Both individual consumers and third-party payors (TPPs) who paid for Chantix during this period are included.
- Excluded: Pfizer and its officers, directors, managers, employees, subsidiaries, and affiliates; government agencies and governmental actors, including state Attorneys General offices; and any entity that previously opted out of the Settlement Class.

What happened
Plaintiffs alleged that Pfizer failed to comply with current good manufacturing practices, resulting in its smoking-cessation drug Chantix becoming contaminated with an undisclosed nitrosamine. Consumer Plaintiffs and third-party payor (TPP) Plaintiffs asserted claims including breach of express and implied warranties, violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and violation of state consumer protection laws. The Court later narrowed the case to consumer protection, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment claims based on the alleged "cGMP Misstatement," meaning Pfizer's representations about its adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices in manufacturing Chantix.
Pfizer denies the allegations and denies any wrongdoing or liability. The Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and time of continued litigation.
How to file a claim

1. Confirm you are eligible
You must have paid any amount of money for retail purchases of Chantix in the United States or its territories between September 29, 2015 and September 17, 2021. Both individual purchasers and third-party payors qualify.

2. Tally up your purchases
Each valid claim is paid on a pro rata basis according to the amount you paid for Chantix, as documented in your Claim Form and any supporting records. Consumer payments are capped at a maximum of 20% of the Available Settlement Fund, with the remainder allocated to third-party payors, and no claim can exceed the total amount paid for Chantix.

3. File online or by mail
Submit the Claim Form online at chantixsettlement.com/file-a-claim by September 14, 2026, or mail a paper Claim Form (postmarked by September 14, 2026) to: Chantix Settlement, c/o A.B. Data, Ltd., P.O. Box 173137, Milwaukee, WI 53217.

4. Receive your payment
Payments are issued after the Court grants final approval at the October 13, 2026 Fairness Hearing and any appeals are resolved. The appeal process can take a year or more. No follow-up is required once your claim is submitted.

Where the money is going
This is a non-reversionary common fund. Attorneys' fees, litigation expenses, settlement administration and notice costs, and class representative service awards come out of the $44 million before payments are calculated for class members.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the Fairness Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. If valid claims exceed what remains of the fund, payments will be reduced on a pro rata basis.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
Each valid claim is paid on a pro rata basis according to the amount you paid for Chantix during the class period, as documented in your Claim Form and any supporting records. Consumer payments are capped at a maximum of 20% of the Available Settlement Fund, with the remainder going to third-party payors, and no consumer's claim can exceed the total amount they paid for Chantix. Because payment amounts depend on the total number and dollar value of valid claims submitted, individual payments cannot be calculated in advance.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
The Long Form Notice states that eligible claims will be based on dollars paid as documented in Claim Forms and supporting documents submitted. Review the Claim Form at chantixsettlement.com/file-a-claim for what documentation is requested; including supporting documents is encouraged to help establish your claim amount.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
You can still file a claim even if you did not receive a direct notice. If you paid any amount for retail purchases of Chantix in the United States or its territories between September 29, 2015 and September 17, 2021, you are likely a Settlement Class Member and can submit a Claim Form online at chantixsettlement.com/file-a-claim or by calling the Settlement Administrator toll-free at 1-877-354-3912.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
Yes. Unless you exclude yourself by submitting a written request postmarked no later than September 14, 2026, you will remain a Settlement Class Member and release your legal claims against Pfizer and the other Released Parties described in the Settlement Agreement, whether or not you file a claim for payment. To opt out, submit a request through the Settlement Website or mail a written exclusion request to Chantix Settlement, c/o A.B. Data, Ltd., P.O. Box 173137, Milwaukee, WI 53217, postmarked by September 14, 2026.
When will payments be sent out?
The Court will hold the Final Approval Hearing on October 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. before Judge Katherine Polk Failla in the Southern District of New York. Payments will only be issued after the Court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved. The appeal process can take a year or more.
