What happened
Aesto, LLC, a company that provides healthcare data migration and archiving services for Gila Health Resources, LLC, experienced a network security incident on or about December 18, 2025 that affected a limited portion of its Amazon Web Services infrastructure. An investigation conducted with outside cybersecurity specialists determined that an unauthorized party accessed and, in some instances, acquired data between on or about December 2, 2025 and December 18, 2025. The incident was reported to state regulators, including the Massachusetts Attorney General, in August 2026.
The review of the affected data was completed on August 5, 2026, and notice letters began going to affected individuals on August 7, 2026, nearly eight months after the intrusion was discovered. The sample notice states that the impacted information varied by individual, and regulator filings indicate it may include Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and medical information. Affected individuals are being offered twelve months of complimentary Single Bureau Credit Monitoring, Credit Report, and Credit Score services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
Occupational health records tend to combine identity data with medical and employment details, a combination that can support both financial fraud and medical identity theft. A Social Security number and a date of birth cannot be reissued the way a payment card can, so exposure risk does not necessarily end when a twelve month monitoring period does. Dapeer Law is evaluating whether reasonable safeguards were in place, whether vendor oversight was adequate, and whether the notification timeline met state breach notification requirements.
What to do if you received a letter
Keep your notice letter
Do not discard it. Your letter contains the enrollment code for the credit monitoring offer and is important evidence if you decide to participate in a lawsuit. Note the date you received it.
Enroll in the free 12-month credit monitoring
Enroll in the Cyberscout (single bureau, through TransUnion) monitoring described in your letter before the enrollment deadline printed on the notice. Accepting this benefit does not waive your right to pursue legal action.
Place a fraud alert or credit freeze
Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to place a fraud alert or freeze on your file. Request a free weekly credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com, and use the FTC's IdentityTheft.gov recovery guide. Because medical information may be involved, also review Explanation of Benefits statements and provider billing records for services you did not receive.
