2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix FP2 Ticket Settlement
Liberty Media Corporation and Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. agreed to a $3,047,986 settlement to resolve claims that 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix ticketholders were removed from race viewing areas before the FP2 Free Practice Session began on November 16, 2023 — without a refund. If you purchased or received a Thursday-Only or Three-Day ticket and scanned in before midnight on November 16, 2023, you may be entitled to a cash payment. Most class members who bought through LVGP or Ticketmaster will be paid automatically. Only those who received a ticket from a third party (not Ticketmaster) need to file a claim by August 27, 2026.

What happened
The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix was supposed to be Formula 1’s grand return to Las Vegas. But an accident on track during the FP1 Free Practice Session caused a lengthy delay to the FP2 Free Practice Session scheduled for the evening of November 16, 2023. Plaintiffs allege that Liberty Media and Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. failed to plan for such a delay — that they did not retain sufficient staff to ensure fan safety once the delayed FP2 session went forward. As a result, Plaintiffs allege that Defendants removed ticket holders from race viewing areas before the FP2 Free Practice Session could even begin, all without any refund. The lawsuit asserts a single claim for breach of contract, seeking partial refunds of the ticket price.
The defendants deny all allegations of wrongdoing and maintain there is no legal entitlement to a refund. The Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, delay, and uncertainty of continued litigation. Settlement does not mean the defendants broke any laws or did anything wrong. The proposed $3,047,986 settlement fund is not an admission of liability.
How to file a claim
-
1. Check if you are in the class
You must have purchased or received a Thursday-Only or Three-Day Ticket to the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix directly from LVGP (or as a transfer of such a ticket), and you must have scanned that ticket for entry before 11:59:59 p.m. on November 16, 2023. If you bought your ticket through other channels (resellers, F1 partners, internal LVGP allotments, or Paddock Club transfers), you are likely excluded.
-
2. Determine whether you need to file
Most class members do not need to file a claim form. If you purchased your ticket directly from LVGP or via Ticketmaster (primary or secondary markets), you will receive your cash payment automatically by email — no action is required. If you received a ticket from someone else (meaning the ticket was not originally purchased via Ticketmaster or directly from LVGP), then you must file a Claim Form by August 27, 2026 to receive a payment.
-
3. File online if required
If you need to file (see Step 2), submit a Claim Form online at lvgp2023ticketsettlement.com/claims_filing.html by August 27, 2026. You can also call the Settlement Administrator at 1-866-742-4955 or email info@rg2claims.com to request a paper Claim Form. The claim process is designed to take most class members only a few minutes to complete.
-
4. Receive your payment
After the Court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved, Defendants will wire the settlement amount to the Settlement Fund within 30 days of the Effective Date. The Settlement Administrator will then issue electronic payments or checks within 45 calendar days of the Effective Date. If there are objections or appeals, the timeline will be longer — potentially a year or more. The Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for November 4, 2026.

Where the money is going
The $3,047,986 settlement fund will first cover notice and administration costs, Class Counsel attorneys’ fees (not to exceed 30% of the fund, or $914,396), litigation expenses, and service awards of $2,500 each for the five named plaintiffs. All remaining funds are distributed to class members. Payments are calculated based on the average price and the value attributable to the FP2 Free Practice Session for each ticket type (Thursday-Only vs. Three-Day), adjusted by a discount for litigation risk. If total valid claims exceed or fall below the net fund, payments are adjusted pro rata.
Your individual payment depends on whether you held a Thursday-Only or Three-Day Ticket and on how many valid claims are submitted. The per-ticket amount will be calculated based on the average ticket price, the percentage of that ticket’s value attributable to the FP2 session, and a litigation risk discount. All amounts are subject to final court approval and pro rata adjustment.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
The exact per-person amount is not yet fixed — it depends on your ticket type (Thursday-Only vs. Three-Day) and how many valid claims are filed. After the fund covers attorneys’ fees, administration costs, and service awards for named plaintiffs, the remaining net amount is allocated based on average ticket prices and the percentage of each ticket’s value attributable to the FP2 Free Practice Session, with a litigation risk discount applied. If total claims exceed the available fund, payments are reduced pro rata. The Settlement Administrator has not yet released per-ticket estimates.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
For most class members (those who purchased through LVGP directly or via Ticketmaster), no proof is required — payment is automatic. If you received a ticket from someone else and need to file a Claim Form, you must provide documentation supporting your claim for a cash award. The specific documentation requirements are detailed on the Claim Form at lvgp2023ticketsettlement.com/claims_filing.html.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
If you did not receive a notice but believe you qualify, you may still participate. Contact the Settlement Administrator at 1-866-742-4955 or info@rg2claims.com, or visit lvgp2023ticketsettlement.com to determine your eligibility and, if required, submit a Claim Form by August 27, 2026.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
If you remain in the class and do not opt out, you give up your right to sue Liberty Media Corporation and Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc. for the Released Claims (as defined in the Settlement Agreement), regardless of whether you submit a claim form. You will be bound by the Court’s judgment. The only way to preserve your right to sue independently is to opt out by the June 28, 2026 deadline. Note: opting out means you receive no settlement payment.
When will payments be sent out?
Payments will not be issued until the Court grants final approval of the Settlement and any appeals are resolved. The Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for November 4, 2026. If approved without appeals, Defendants will fund the account within 30 days of the Effective Date, and the Settlement Administrator will issue payments within 45 days after that. If there are appeals, the process can take a year or more after the hearing. Check lvgp2023ticketsettlement.com for updates.
