Thinkware Systems USA, Inc. agreed to an $850,000 settlement over claims that it advertised a "Super Night Vision" feature on certain dash cams without disclosing that the feature worked only in parking mode. Anyone in the United States who bought a Thinkware X700, F200PRO, F70PRO, DC-M2-FG, or DC-M2-FG-IR dash cam between January 25, 2019 and August 31, 2024 can file a claim for a pro rata share of the fund. You are a Class Member if ALL of the following apply:
- You bought a Thinkware X700, F200PRO, F70PRO, DC-M2-FG, or DC-M2-FG-IR dash cam in the United States.
- You bought it between January 25, 2019 and August 31, 2024.
- You can claim one camera without proof of purchase. Claims for more than one camera require proof of purchase.
- Excluded: Thinkware and its employees and agents.
- Excluded: Members of the Court and Class Counsel.

What happened
The plaintiff alleges that Thinkware marketed its X700, F200PRO, F70PRO, DC-M2-FG, and DC-M2-FG-IR dash cams as having a "Super Night Vision" function, but did not disclose that the function was available only in parking mode and not during regular driving. The case was filed in Placer County Superior Court in California and covers purchases nationwide from January 2019 through August 2024.
Thinkware strongly denies any wrongdoing and does not believe it has any liability to the Class Representative or the Settlement Class. The Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and delay of continued litigation. Thinkware will pay $850,000, and the fund increases by about $6.70 for each qualifying product sold above 65,130 units during the class period.

1. Confirm you are eligible
You qualify if you bought a Thinkware X700, F200PRO, F70PRO, DC-M2-FG, or DC-M2-FG-IR dash cam in the United States between January 25, 2019 and August 31, 2024.

2. Gather what you have
If you received a notice, use the Settlement Claim ID it contains. If you did not, the Claim Form asks for proof of purchase, purchase location, date, and the camera's serial number where available. Under the Settlement Agreement, class members without proof of purchase are limited to one camera. To claim more than one camera, you must include proof of purchase such as a receipt or order confirmation.

3. File online or by mail
Submit the Claim Form online at the official claim portal by December 14, 2026, or mail a paper Claim Form postmarked by that date to: Thinkware Claims Administrator, P.O. Box 1349, Baton Rouge, LA 70821. The form is signed under penalty of perjury. Notice documents, the Settlement Agreement, and court filings are posted at TWCameraSettlement.com.

4. Receive your payment
You can choose a paper check or a digital payment (email address required). Payments are issued after the Court grants final approval at the January 12, 2027 Final Fairness Hearing and any appeals are resolved. No follow-up is required once your claim is submitted.

The Final Fairness Hearing is scheduled for January 12, 2027 at 8:30 a.m. PT before the Honorable Trisha J. Hirashima in Department 32, Superior Court of California, County of Placer, Hon. Howard G. Gibson Courthouse, 10820 Justice Center Drive, Roseville, CA 95678. The Court will also consider Class Counsel's request for attorneys' fees of up to $283,333.33, costs of up to $20,000, and a service award of up to $10,000. The Court may move the hearing, so check TWCameraSettlement.com for updates before traveling.
Where the money is going
Thinkware will pay $850,000 into a settlement fund. Attorneys' fees, costs, the service award, and administration expenses are paid first, and the remainder is split pro rata based on the number of valid claims and the cameras claimed. Unclaimed funds and uncashed checks go to The Public Justice Foundation.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the Final Fairness Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. The administration estimate comes from the Settlement Agreement. Individual payments depend on the number of valid claims and cameras claimed, so no per-claim amount is guaranteed.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
There is no fixed payment amount. After fees, costs, the service award, and administration expenses are paid, the remaining fund is divided pro rata based on the number of valid Claim Forms and the number of cameras claimed. The amount per camera will not be known until the claim period closes.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
Not for one camera. Under the Settlement Agreement, class members who do not have proof of purchase can claim one qualifying camera. To claim more than one camera, you must include proof of purchase. If you received a notice, include your Settlement Claim ID; if not, the Claim Form asks for purchase location, date, and serial number where available.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
You can still file. If you did not receive a Settlement Claim ID, the Claim Form lets you submit your purchase details and any proof of purchase instead. Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
If you stay in the Settlement Class, you give up the right to sue in court or arbitration, or be part of any other lawsuit or arbitration, against Thinkware or its affiliates over the Released Claims, whether or not you file a claim. To keep those rights, you must opt out by November 30, 2026.
When will payments be sent out?
Payments come after the Court grants final approval at the January 12, 2027 Final Fairness Hearing and after any appeals are resolved. Checks expire 180 days after issuance, and an appeal can add a year or more to the timeline.
