What happened
This lawsuit, Jerry W. Ray v. AdaptHealth Corp., claims that AdaptHealth, a home medical equipment provider, acting through its Family of Companies, engaged in improper debt collection practices under North Carolina law, including billing customers for equipment they allegedly did not receive or had returned, and sending collection letters suggesting possible legal action. The case is pending in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.
AdaptHealth denies that it did anything wrong, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle the case to avoid the costs, risks, and uncertainty of continued litigation.
