What happened
Plaintiffs filed this class action against AOD Federal Credit Union over a data incident involving unauthorized access to AOD's network from about August 8, 2024 to August 9, 2024, which may have exposed Settlement Class Members' private information, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, bank and financial account numbers, routing numbers, card numbers, driver's license or government ID numbers, clinical or treatment information, health insurance member IDs, and Taxpayer Identification Numbers.
AOD denies any wrongdoing and denies liability, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle the case to avoid the cost, risk, and time of continued litigation.

-
2. Choose your payment option
Submit documentation of fraud or identity theft losses fairly traceable to the incident for up to $5,000 (Cash Payment A), or take a $75 flat cash payment with no documentation required (Cash Payment B). Either option can also include two years of free credit monitoring from one bureau. Cash payments are subject to a pro rata increase or decrease based on the total value of all valid claims.

Where the money is going
This is a common fund. Attorneys' fees and costs and Service Awards come out of the $750,000 before payments are calculated for class members.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. If valid claims exceed what remains of the fund, payments will be reduced on a pro rata basis.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
Settlement Class Members can choose Cash Payment A, reimbursement for documented fraud or identity theft losses fairly traceable to the data incident, up to $5,000, or Cash Payment B, a flat pro rata cash payment currently estimated at $75 with no documentation required. Either payment can be combined with two years of free credit monitoring from one bureau. Because payments come from a shared $750,000 fund after fees, costs, and service awards, actual amounts may be adjusted up or down on a pro rata basis depending on how many valid claims are submitted.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
Cash Payment A requires reasonable documentation of losses, such as receipts, bills, invoices, phone records, or correspondence; personal certifications or declarations alone do not count as documentation, though they can support other proof. If you do not have documentation, or your Claim Form is found invalid and you do not cure it, your claim is processed as Cash Payment B, the $75 flat payment that requires no proof.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
If you believe your private information was compromised in the AOD data incident but did not receive a notice, you can still visit AODFCUDataIncidentSettlement.com or call 1-877-378-7925 to confirm whether you are a Settlement Class Member and submit a Claim Form by the deadline.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
Yes. Unless you mail a written exclusion request postmarked by August 17, 2026, you stay in the Settlement Class and release your right to sue AOD and the other Released Parties over the claims resolved in this lawsuit. The full release language is in Section XIII of the Settlement Agreement, available at AODFCUDataIncidentSettlement.com.
When will payments be sent out?
The Court will hold the Final Approval Hearing on September 16, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Lowell Dustin Merritt in Anniston, Alabama. Payments are issued only after the Court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved, which can take a year or more. No action is required after a valid Claim Form is submitted; check AODFCUDataIncidentSettlement.com for updates.
