Where the money is going
Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority will pay $700,000 into a non-reversionary settlement fund. The fund covers documented loss reimbursements, cash payments, and credit monitoring for class members who submit valid claims, plus notice and administration costs, any service awards, and attorneys' fees and litigation costs. Because Cash Payment B is adjusted pro rata, the final amount per claimant depends on how many valid claims are filed. Any money left after the first distribution may go to a second pro rata distribution or to a court-approved cy pres recipient.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. The $100 Cash Payment B is subject to pro rata increase or decrease based on the number of valid claims and the funds remaining after deductions.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
You can choose either reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented losses or a flat cash payment of $100, plus three years of credit monitoring. The $100 figure is not guaranteed; it will be increased or decreased pro rata based on the number of valid claims and the funds remaining after deductions.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
Cash Payment A for documented losses requires reasonable third-party documentation, such as bank or credit card statements, invoices, or receipts. Cash Payment B does not require documentation, but you still need to submit a valid Claim Form. The online form requires the CPT ID and Passcode from your notice.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
The class includes people whose Private Information was determined to have been potentially impacted in the Data Security Incident, and filing online requires the CPT ID and Passcode printed on the notice. If you think you should have received one, email JBSSettlement@cptgroup.com or call CPT Group at 1-888-716-0970 before the December 23, 2026 deadline.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
If you stay in the settlement, you release claims against Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority related to the November 2025 Data Security Incident, including negligence, breach of contract, invasion of privacy, and consumer protection and data breach notification claims, whether or not you file a claim. To keep those rights, you must opt out with a request postmarked by November 23, 2026.
When will payments be sent out?
Payments are scheduled to go out within 75 days after the settlement becomes final, which happens after the Court grants final approval at the February 16, 2027 Final Approval Hearing and any appeals are resolved. An appeal can add a year or more to that timeline.
