What happened

Plaintiff Janssen Balboa alleges that Motive Technologies, a fleet management and dashcam technology company, violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by placing calls to consumers' cellular phones using prerecorded or artificial voice messages without their prior express written consent. The lawsuit covers calls made between November 26, 2020 and April 3, 2026, and estimates the class at approximately 414,374 individuals across the United States.

Motive Technologies denies the allegations and denies any wrongdoing or liability. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and uncertainty of continued litigation. The settlement provides each eligible class member who files a valid claim with a $50 product voucher redeemable on Motive Technologies' website.
