What happened
Plaintiff Chantel Hammond filed this class action against Renaissance Entertainment Productions, Inc. in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Nassau, alleging that Defendant failed to timely and properly disclose service fees charged on electronic ticket purchases to its New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, New York, in alleged violation of New York's Arts and Cultural Affairs Law (ACAL) § 25.07(4). The lawsuit covers individuals who paid a service fee to purchase an electronic ticket to the Faire from Defendant's website between August 29, 2022 and April 4, 2025.
Renaissance Entertainment Productions denies that it violated any law and denies all wrongdoing, but agreed to settle to avoid the uncertainties and expenses associated with continuing the case. As part of the settlement, Defendant acknowledges that it has changed the ticket purchase flow on its website and agrees to continue complying with ACAL § 25.07(4) going forward.
