What happened

The lawsuit concerns a targeted cyberattack on Ochsner LSU Health's computer systems in October 2025. According to the settlement website, the information that may have been involved includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical record numbers, and information about care patients received at Regional Urology before December 31, 2022. Plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to adequately protect this information.

The defendants deny any wrongdoing, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and delay of continued litigation. Ochsner LSU Health is funding the settlement benefits, and it will separately pay any Court-approved attorneys' fees, costs, and service awards.

Common questions

How much money will I receive?

You can choose a one-time $40 cash payment with no documentation, or reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses. Class members who do not take the $40 payment can also claim one year of medical identity monitoring.

Do I need to submit proof of purchase?

The $40 Alternative Cash Payment does not require documentation, but you still need to submit a valid Claim Form. Documented loss claims require records such as bank statements or receipts; self-prepared notes alone are not enough. The online form requires the LoginID and PIN from your notice.

What if I didn’t receive a notice?

The class includes living individuals in the United States whose Private Information was potentially compromised in the October 2025 Data Incident, and filing online requires the LoginID and PIN printed on the notice. If you think you should have received one, email info@RegionalUrologyDataSettlement.com with your full name and mailing address, or call (833) 200-7004, before the November 16, 2026 deadline.

Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?

If you stay in the settlement, you release claims against the defendants related to the Data Incident, as described in Section XI of the Settlement Agreement, whether or not you file a claim. To keep those rights, you must opt out with a request postmarked by October 16, 2026.

When will payments be sent out?

Benefits are distributed only after the Court grants final approval at the October 19, 2026 Final Approval Hearing and any appeals are resolved. An appeal can add a year or more to that timeline.
