What happened
In February 2024, Dohman, Akerlund & Eddy, LLC, a Nebraska accounting and business consulting firm, reported a cybersecurity incident involving its computer systems. The lawsuit alleges that certain files that may have contained private information were accessed, potentially including names, addresses, telephone numbers, Social Security numbers, and other personally identifiable information or protected health information. The case, Delmar Kentner, et al. v. Dohman, Akerlund & Eddy, LLC, Case No. CI 24-3685, is pending in the District Court of Lancaster County, Nebraska.
Dohman denies that it did anything wrong, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the costs, risks, disruptions, and uncertainties of continuing the litigation.

All Class Members can enroll in one year of credit monitoring with $1 million in identity theft insurance. Where the money is going
This Settlement does not establish a common fund. Instead, Dohman separately pays approved cash claims, one year of credit monitoring for all enrolled Class Members, Court-approved attorneys' fees and costs, Service Awards, and notice and administration costs.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the September 25, 2026 Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. Attorneys' fees, Service Awards, and notice and administration costs are paid by Dohman and do not reduce the cash payments or credit monitoring available to Class Members. Any residual funds from uncashed checks will go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, subject to Court approval.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
You can choose one of two cash options. Cash Payment A reimburses up to $5,000 for actual, documented out-of-pocket losses caused by the Data Incident and incurred between February 28, 2024 and September 10, 2026. Cash Payment B is a one-time $50 payment with no proof required. You may claim only one option, not both. All Class Members can also enroll in one year of credit monitoring with $1 million in identity theft insurance.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
Documentation is required only for Cash Payment A. You must submit proof, like receipts or bank statements, showing your losses. Personal notes alone are not enough, though they can support other documentation. You cannot claim expenses already reimbursed by a third party. Cash Payment B and credit monitoring enrollment require no documentation.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
The Class is defined as all living individuals in the United States whose Private Information was implicated in the Data Incident, including those who were sent a notice. If you believe you are a Class Member but did not receive a notice, contact the Settlement Administrator to confirm your status before the claim deadline.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
Yes. Unless you exclude yourself (opt out) by August 26, 2026, you will remain in the Settlement and give up the right to sue, continue to sue, or be part of another lawsuit against Dohman over the claims resolved by this Settlement. The full release is described in Section XI of the Settlement Agreement, available at DohmanDataSettlement.com.
When will payments be sent out?
The Court will hold the Final Approval Hearing on September 25, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. Central Time. Settlement payments are issued after the Court grants final approval and after any appeals are resolved. The appeal process can take a year or more. No action is required after a valid Claim Form is submitted.
