What happened
The lawsuit concerns an August 2025 cyberattack on the computer systems of Inotiv Inc. According to the settlement website, files involved in the attack may have contained private information including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and financial information. Inotiv sent notices to people whose information was compromised.
Inotiv denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and delay of continued litigation. This is a claims-made settlement, which means there is no fixed settlement fund. Benefits are paid to each class member who submits a valid claim.

Where the money is going
This is a claims-made settlement with no fixed total fund. Inotiv will provide benefits to each class member who submits a valid claim, up to the per-person limits below. Class Counsel has requested $275,000 in attorneys' fees and costs and $2,000 service awards for each Class Representative, subject to Court approval.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. The $4,580 combined maximum is an estimate based on adding the per-category loss and lost time limits.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
You can claim up to $500 for documented ordinary losses, up to $4,000 for documented extraordinary losses from identity theft or fraud, and up to $80 for lost time. As an alternative, you can choose a one-time $45 cash payment with no documentation. Two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete is also available. Payments depend on a valid claim and Court approval.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
Not for the $45 alternative cash payment. Ordinary and extraordinary loss claims require receipts or other supporting proof, and self-created notes alone are not enough. Lost time claims require a written description of the time spent and a signed attestation.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
The class includes only people who were sent a notice by Inotiv about the Data Breach. The online Claim Form requires the LoginID and PIN printed on that Notice. If you believe you were sent a notice but cannot find your LoginID and PIN, call the Settlement Administrator at (877) 723-7093 before the December 2, 2026 deadline.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
If you stay in the settlement, you give up the right to sue or be part of any other lawsuit against Inotiv over the issues resolved by this settlement, whether or not you file a claim. To keep those rights, you must opt out by November 2, 2026.
When will payments be sent out?
Benefits are provided after the Court grants final approval at the December 3, 2026 Final Approval Hearing and after any appeals are resolved. An appeal can add a year or more to that timeline.
