Lester and Rosalie Anixter Center has agreed to settle a class action over a July 2023 cyberattack on its computer systems that allegedly exposed files containing personal information. Anyone in the United States who was sent a notice of the data breach can claim a $50 cash payment with no documentation, or reimbursement of up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses plus up to $52.50 for lost time, and everyone who files can also enroll in one year of CyEx Identity Defense Complete identity protection. Claims are due October 19, 2026.

You are a Class Member if ALL of the following apply:
- You live in the United States and were sent a notice that your personal information was involved in the July 2023 Lester and Rosalie Anixter Center data incident.
- You can claim a one-time $50 Alternative Cash Payment with no receipts or explanation required.
- Or, if you had out-of-pocket costs tied to the breach (identity theft losses, credit monitoring you bought, ID replacement, postage) between July 17, 2023 and October 19, 2026, you can claim up to $5,000 in documented losses plus up to $52.50 for three hours of lost time at $17.50 per hour.
- Every claimant can also enroll in one year of CyEx Identity Defense Complete, which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance, real-time credit monitoring, dark web scanning, and fraud resolution support.
- Excluded: Anixter's officers, directors, and related entities, the judge and court staff, counsel for the parties, the people responsible for the cyberattack, and anyone who timely opts out.

What happened
In July 2023, Lester and Rosalie Anixter Center experienced a targeted cyberattack on its computer systems in which an unauthorized party gained access to files containing personally identifiable information. A class action was filed in the Circuit Court of Sangamon County, Illinois, alleging that Anixter failed to adequately safeguard the personal information entrusted to it, and Anixter sent notice of the incident to the affected individuals.
Anixter denies any wrongdoing and denies that it is liable, and the Court has not ruled in favor of either side. The parties agreed to a claims-made settlement to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continued litigation. Under the Settlement, Anixter pays approved claims for documented losses, lost time, and alternative cash payments, provides one year of identity protection to every claimant, and separately pays Class Counsel's requested $185,000 in fees and a $2,000 service award to the Class Representative, so those amounts do not reduce class member payments.

1. Confirm you are eligible
You qualify if you live in the United States and were sent a notice that your personal information was involved in the July 2023 Anixter Center data incident. If you received a notice letter or postcard about this Settlement, you are a Class Member.

2. Choose your claim type
Option A, no proof: a one-time $50 Alternative Cash Payment. Option B, documented losses: reimbursement of up to $5,000 for out-of-pocket costs fairly traceable to the breach between July 17, 2023 and October 19, 2026, supported by receipts or statements, plus up to $52.50 for three hours of lost time at $17.50 per hour with a short written description of how you spent the time. Everyone who files either option can also enroll in one year of CyEx Identity Defense Complete identity protection.

3. File online or by mail
File online at AnixterDataSettlement.com by October 19, 2026, or download the paper Claim Form and mail it (postmarked by October 19, 2026) to: Anixter Data Incident Settlement, c/o Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799-9958. Attach documentation if you are claiming out-of-pocket losses. 4. Receive your payment
Payments and identity protection enrollment codes are issued after the Court grants final approval at the November 23, 2026 hearing and the judgment becomes final, including any appeals. No follow-up is needed once your claim is accepted.

The Final Approval Hearing is scheduled for November 23, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. Central before the Honorable Gail L. Noll in Courtroom 624 of the Sangamon County Courthouse, 200 South Ninth Street, Springfield, IL 62701, with a Zoom option (Meeting ID 269 739 8957, password 903784). The date or time may change without further notice, so check the Important Dates page before attending. The opt-out and objection deadline is September 18, 2026, a month before the claim deadline.
Where the money is going
This is a claims-made settlement with no fixed common fund. Anixter pays each approved claim directly, and separately pays Class Counsel's fees, litigation costs, and the Class Representative's service award, so those amounts do not come out of class member payments. There is no pro rata reduction unless total claims exceed a cap stated in the Settlement Agreement.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the November 23, 2026 Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the fees and service award requested. Check the Settlement Agreement for any aggregate cap that could trigger a pro rata reduction of cash payments.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
If you choose the no-proof option, you receive a one-time $50 Alternative Cash Payment. If you had documented out-of-pocket losses caused by the breach, you can instead claim up to $5,000 in reimbursement plus up to $52.50 for lost time. Everyone who files can also enroll in one year of CyEx Identity Defense Complete, which includes $1 million in identity theft insurance. Attorneys' fees and the service award are paid separately by Anixter and do not reduce your payment.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
Not for the $50 Alternative Cash Payment; you only need to complete the Claim Form. Documented-loss claims require receipts, bank or credit card statements, invoices, or similar records showing the expense and connecting it to the breach. Lost-time claims require a brief written description of what you did and roughly how long it took, but no receipts.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
The Settlement Class is defined as people who were sent a notice of the data breach, so if you did not receive one you may not be a Class Member. If you believe your information was involved in the July 2023 incident, call the Settlement Administrator at 1-833-421-7316 or email info@AnixterDataSettlement.com to check whether you are on the class list before filing.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
Yes. Unless you mail or email a request for exclusion by September 18, 2026 (to Anixter Data Incident Settlement, c/o Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799-9958, marked ATTN: Exclusion Request), you will be bound by the Settlement and will release your claims against Anixter arising from the data breach, whether or not you file a claim. The full release is in Section 6 of the Settlement Agreement.
When will payments be sent out?
Payments and identity protection enrollment instructions go out after the Court grants final approval at the November 23, 2026 hearing and the judgment becomes final. If anyone appeals, that can take a year or more. No action is needed after you file; monitor AnixterDataSettlement.com for updates.
