What happened
This lawsuit, Felix v. ConnectAmerica.com, LLC, claims that ConnectAmerica.com, LLC, a provider of medical alert and personal emergency response services, made prerecorded calls to cell phones belonging to people who never gave the company their phone numbers, in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, 47 U.S.C. section 227. The case was first filed in federal court in Pennsylvania in 2025 and is now pending in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
ConnectAmerica denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of continued litigation. As part of the settlement, ConnectAmerica has also agreed to stop using prerecorded messages to contact non-customers and to use the FCC Reassigned Numbers Database.
