What happened

This lawsuit, In re Covenant Health Data Security Litigation, arises from a cyberattack on Covenant Health, Inc. Unauthorized access occurred on or about May 18, 2025, was discovered on May 26, 2025, and was disclosed in notice letters in July 2025. The plaintiffs claim that names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record numbers, Social Security numbers, treatment information, and health insurance information may have been exposed, and that Covenant Health failed to adequately protect that information. Consolidated claims are pending in the Maine Superior Court for Penobscot County.

Covenant Health denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of continued litigation. Covenant Health has also agreed to implement data security measures, at no cost to the settlement fund.

You can claim either reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses, or a pro rata cash payment estimated at $75. The cash amount depends on the number of valid claims and may go up or down. All class members can also receive two years of medical identity and credit monitoring.

Do I need to submit proof of purchase?

Not for the estimated $75 cash payment or monitoring. Documented loss claims require reasonable third-party documentation such as receipts, invoices, or statements; self-prepared documents alone are not enough. Get claim instructions from the settlement website directly.

What if I didn’t receive a notice?

If you believe your information was involved but you did not receive a notice, get more information from the settlement website directly at CovenantHealthDataSettlement.com or call the Settlement Administrator at (833) 453-2423.

Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?

Yes. Unless you exclude yourself by December 15, 2026, you will be bound by the settlement and give up the right to sue the Defendants and related parties over claims arising from the data incident, whether or not you file a claim.

When will payments be sent out?

Payments are made only after the Court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved. The Final Approval Hearing date had not been posted when this page was prepared, so check CovenantHealthDataSettlement.com for updates.
